Genuine Nissan Rear CW&P – Y62 Patrol (3.57 → 3.69 Ratio)

This is the factory Crown Wheel & Pinion upgrade for Y62 Patrols running 35” tyres, shifting the rear diff from 3.57 to 3.69.

We didn’t arrive at this ratio by guesswork. It’s a factory-spec configuration already used on certain overseas Y62 Patrol models. After digging into OEM gearing variations globally, this is the closest factory-correct solution to restore drivability once you step up to 35s.

Bigger tyres effectively “tall gear” the vehicle. The engine drops out of its efficient rev range, the transmission constantly corrects itself, and the whole setup feels lazy and overworked. This 3.69 ratio brings the drivetrain back into a usable window where it can actually do its job instead of constantly compensating.

It doesn’t add power. It fixes leverage. That’s the whole point.

What you’ll notice

  • Restores lost response after fitting 35” tyres
  • Brings RPM back into a usable torque range
  • Stops constant gear hunting under load
  • Improves towing and low-speed control
  • Reduces heat and strain across the drivetrain

Why this works

The ratio change corrects wheel torque multiplication that’s lost when tyre diameter increases. Without it, every part of the drivetrain works harder to compensate for gearing that is no longer appropriate.

Important note

Cruise control behaviour may change after installation. Some vehicles will engage then disengage shortly after, particularly adaptive systems.

Fitment

  • Nissan Patrol Y62 (rear differential)

If you’re unsure, send your VIN. Diff gearing is not something you assume.
