The New Y63 Patrol – Here’s the Real Story
The New Y63 Patrol – Here’s the Real Story
It’s official — the next generation of Nissan’s off-road heavyweight, the Y63 Patrol, is coming. The press releases finally confirm what the spy shots hinted at for months — this isn’t a facelift, it’s a full-blown reboot of one of Australia’s most-loved 4WDs.
⸻
The Headline Specs
Out goes the old-school 5.6L V8, in comes a twin-turbo 3.5L V6 punching out around 317 kW and 700 Nm, bolted to a 10-speed auto. The body’s longer, wider, and boxier — more in line with the 300 Series and Grenadier — and early photos show the kind of stance we’ve been waiting for Nissan to bring back.
There’s also talk of a 3.8 L naturally aspirated V6 in select markets, but we’re not holding our breath for that one here.

What Nissan’s Saying vs What We’re Sensing
The official line is that orders open late 2026 with deliveries kicking off early 2027. That tracks with what we’ve seen out of Epping — could be Premcar’s already running local evaluation vehicles, and the Warrior program doesn’t move that far ahead unless timelines are locked.
Don’t expect all ten global trim levels to hit Aussie soil, though. More likely we’ll get three to four variants tailored for our market — and we’d put money on one being the PRO-4X Warrior, tuned and built by Premcar right here.
⸻
The Warrior Factor
Premcar’s fingerprints are all over the test mules doing the rounds on Victorian freeways. Same setup as the Y62 Warrior program: local suspension tuning, increased ride height, bash plates, proper all-terrains, and a few aesthetic tweaks that make the thing look like it means business.
This new Y63 platform will give them a fresh foundation — independent rear end, twin-turbo grunt, and a proper electronics suite for off-road control. Expect it to go toe-to-toe with the LC300 GR Sport and Grenadier Trailmaster crowd.
⸻
What It Means for Aussie Builders
A new Patrol means a clean slate for engineering. New chassis, new wiring architecture, new mounting points — and that means we’ll be re-developing our gear from the ground up. Roof systems, dual-battery setups, snorkels, long-range tanks — everything will get rebuilt to suit.
For us, that’s not a hassle — that’s opportunity. It’s a chance to lift the bar again and design solutions that actually fit the way Australians use their rigs: touring, towing, and getting seriously off-grid.
⸻
Our Take
The Y63 Patrol is shaping up as a proper successor — modern powertrain, serious stance, and local Warrior backing. It won’t just replace the Y62; it’ll redefine how the Patrol competes in the modern market.
We’ll be ready when it lands. You can bet your arse on that.
